To Order Correct Sizes - AFTER ordering please contact us with your child's height, chest size, crutch to SHOULDER length, child's outdoor shoe size plus a measurement of both feet whilst standing barefoot on a piece of A4 paper (the length AND width of both feet required ). This will greatly assist in you receiving the most appropriately sized items.

Cardigans are sold by chest size in INCHES.

Ballet shoes generally require 1.5 - 2 sizes up from the normal outdoor shoe size for young children. Ballet shoes should be snug but not tight, nor crunching their little toes up. Toes should be able to be splayed out and wiggled within the shoes.  ** Ballet shoes are not designed with growing room in mind and should be fitted for 'the now'.**

Most ballet shoes for under 5's should be checked every 8 weeks and replaced if toes are not flat within the shoe with a very small degree of snugness. This will ensure you maintain correct foot health of your child. Please remember that small children do not normally recognise they are wearing tight shoes until they are sometimes 2 or 3 sizes too small.. Sometimes even longer!!

Leotards mostly are sold in sizes 00,0,1,2,3a,3,4,5 etc. Leotards are very stretchy but they need to be comfortable for movement and not pull too tight in the crutch area, particularly when sitting on the floor.  Children with a larger 'little tum' sometimes need to go up one size for comfort and a more perfect fit.

Most under 8's will be wearing Size 2 and under. Tots ballet classes for 2.5 to 3 Yr old start with a Size 00 to give some guidance but of course all children are different hence we like to ask for sizes to assist in the correct fitting process.

Other Useful Information :- Ballet cardigans often get taken off after warm up and end up in a pile on the floor with everyone else's. In order that your child comes home with the correct lovely new clothing and accessories you have bought please help out the dance teacher by NAME TAGGING all your items, including headbands, bags, even their shoes.

Ballet Shoes are not Left and Right footed until they are worn in and mould to the child's foot shape as the leather warms during wear. To assist in this process please fit the shoes and then put a L & F in the bottom and teach your child to put their shoes on the right feet. Before attending ballet class it is a good idea to get your child to wear the fitted shoes around the house for a few days so they get used to the feel of them on their toes (they are pleated in that area and can feel strange to some in the beginning). The elastics should be altered if necessary to ensure a snug fit but only as tight as to allow you to get your fingers under easily and the elastics should dig in nor leave big groove or red marks. If this happens, the elastics are too tight and need altering. You should check your child's feet after the first wear and first few wears to check this aspect and ensure their overall comfort. 'Ballet Mums' become very proficient at this once they have had it explained properly. 😊

Don't forget to take some pictures of them in their first ballet outfit to print off and keep on their Keepsake Box. First ballet outfit pictures make great presents in a beautiful frame for their room or even for grandparents.

Welcome to the world of Ballet. Enjoy the fun and experience with your child.

Good Luck x
